Volunteers of the Year

Emilie Siarkiewicz

Emilie Siarkiewicz has been an active member of SBCO since 1998.  She has worked on numerous programs, especially in fundraising, through the aluminum can recycling program, the Jim Click car raffles, and the Walkathon.  She established the website in 2000 and updated it regularly.  She has led the Labels for Education and Box Top Collection programs which provide funds for the schools to get needed equipment and books.  She has served on the Board of Directors and is a Unit Captain for the annual food drive and Source Book delivery programs.  This year she has donated over 150 pairs of handmade earrings to Kids’ Closet for graduation gifts.

Dennis Nemura

Dennis Nemura has been a member of SBCO since 2011.  He has worked in various areas associated with the Kids’ Closet. He is current the Kid’s Closet Receiving Manager and can be found many days of the week behind the curtain unpacking hundreds of boxes, counting the contents, labeling bins, and doing all that is needed to prepare the new clothing for transport to the Kids’ Closet.  He has become very deft at removing the paper wadding from the toes of the sneakers that the kids so dearly treasure.  It can be truly said that Dennis does a lot of the heavy lifting for Kids’ Closet.

Supporter of the Year

First Plaza Storage
Shelly Woodyard and Larry Klingler

First Plaza Storage was recognized as the Supporter of the Year for sponsoring a water table in each of 15 consecutive years of the annual Walkathon.  As a result they have provided 135 wardrobes at Kids’ Closet. Steve Groth, president of the SBCO Board of Directors, presented the award to owner Larry Klingler and his daughter/store manager Shelly Woodyard.

First Plaza Storage has been in business for over 20 years.  They have 350 drive up self-storage units and 350 rv/boat & car parking spaces.  They offer covered and uncovered with electric plug-in options as well.  They have a secure lot with gate access 7 days a week from 7am to 7 pm, and their friendly helpful staff members are in the office to serve you Monday through Saturday from 9:30am to 5pm. They can also help with your moving needs as they have U-Haul trucks and trailers onsite and packing merchandise. You can find them online at www.firstplazastorage.com.
